Today (Wednesday 1st July 2015) is the hottest day recorded in the UK for 9 years and the hottest July day ever recorded in the UK. Temperatures reached a toasty 36.7C (98F) at London’s Heathrow Airport to claim the records.
Kew Gardens, near Wimbledon came close with a temperature of 35.7C, Aviemore in the Scottish Highlands recorded 28.5C and Swansea in Wales came in at 21.8C.
But all of these pale in comparison to Sunday 10th August 2003, the hottest day ever recorded in the UK, when temperatures got up to 38.5C in Faversham, Kent.
