The South Hams offer everything and more on a holiday to Devon. Whether you want to explore rugged Dartmoor or amble along the coast path on the stunning south coast you are spoilt for choice. Close to the apartment is pretty East Prawle which has access to small hidden coves down rickety coast paths and famous pub The Pig s Nose which has regular live music events and serves up excellent food in a cosy pub atmosphere. You are also based in an excellent location to explore the town of Totnes and maritime city Plymouth where there are a range of independent eateries good shopping and a range of bars. This charming and inviting apartment which is on the first floor of a large country house has a mixture of slate and wooden floors and offers two bedrooms. One double with a four-poster bed and one bunk bedroom which has restricted head height. The family bathroom has a shower over bath and WC and the lounge/diner/kitchen has a TV & DVD. The spacious kitchen which leads off from the lounge and dining areas has an electric oven and hob for cooking up a storm along with a fridge/freezer and microwave. A shared laundry room is also available for all guests. Outside there is an enclosed walled shared garden area which is accessed through a gate and across a quiet and narrow road. There is also a rambling footpath which will lead guests to the seaside at Lannacombe Beach - this is half an hour s easy walk away. There is ample off-road parking available.
Devon has quite a few claims to fame such as being the backdrop to many films, including; War Horse - starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, and directed by Steven Spielberg. Sense and Sensibility - starring Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Hugh Grant and Kate Winslet. The French Lieutenant's Woman - starring Meryl Streep and Jeremy Irons. Edge Of Tomorrow: Live Die Repeat - starring Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt and Brendan Gleeson. So you may recognise a few of the locations from their appearances on the big screen.
Did you know that Agatha Christie, Reverend John Russell, Sir Francis Drake, and Sir Walter Raleigh all hailed from Devon? Agatha Christie went on to become a best-selling novelist, Reverend John Russell developed the Jack Russell Terrier, Sir Francis Drake circumnavigated the world, and Sir Walter Raleigh became a famous explorer.
South Devon is home to over 20 miles of Torbay coastline which is otherwise known as the 'English Riviera'. Brixton, Paignton and Torquay are the three Riviera towns and are great places to enjoy a day at the seaside. So if you fancy some fresh sea air and picturesque views then visit the 'English Riviera'.
The Dartmoor National Park can be found in Devon and offers visitors a dramatic moorland landscape, ancient woodland, rare wildlife and notable influences, such as the location for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes case 'The Hound of the Baskervilles'.
