The Gatehouse is an ideal retreat for a couple, with walks and cycle routes in the area, the Settle-Carlisle railway, two National Parks and a number of villages and towns that are waiting to be discovered.

The charming village of Orton is situated close to the Lake District National Park. The village centre has a 16th century church, village green, pub serving food, a Post Office/shop and a chocolate shop and tearoom, and there are rolling countryside and beautiful scenery in the area. Within driving distance are Kendal, Sedbergh and Appleby-in-Westmorland, as well as Haweswater lake and the Eden Valley.

This is a very chic cottage with an interior that I defy anyone to find elsewhere for us. It was awesome and our two dogs loved it too. We will be going again.
