Stokenham has been well-known for its fishing and farming and has recently become a very popular tourist destination for its beaches and notable buildings. It is a parish honing seven other settlements, Stokenham itself offers two good pubs including one thatched pub from the 14th century, as well as an ancient church and Manor House.
Devon has quite a few claims to fame such as being the backdrop to many films, including; War Horse - starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, and directed by Steven Spielberg. Sense and Sensibility - starring Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Hugh Grant and Kate Winslet. The French Lieutenant's Woman - starring Meryl Streep and Jeremy Irons. Edge Of Tomorrow: Live Die Repeat - starring Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt and Brendan Gleeson. So you may recognise a few of the locations from their appearances on the big screen.
