Dorset Information
Dorset has many claims to fame including the iconic Hovis advert, the best-selling Famous Five Books, and the award winning drama ‘Broadchurch’. Visit Shaftesbury and you’ll find a very recognisable street, Gold Hill. This cobbled street was use in the 1970’s Hovis TV advert featuring a boy pushing a bike up the hill. Walking up/down this familiar hill you’d be forgiven for humming or whistling 'New World Symphony' which accompanied the TV advert.
Enid Blyton’s ‘The Famous Five’ series featured Dorset locations such as the Isle of Purbeck and Poole Harbour, with Anne, Dick, Georgina, Julian, and Timmy the dog having their adventures and enjoying a few ginger beers along the way.
The cliffs and beach at West Bay were used as the backdrop to the ITV crime drama ‘Broadchurch’. Retrace the steps of David Tennant and Olivia Coleman by visiting this stunning section of the Dorset coast.
The Jurassic Coast is over 90 miles of coastline covering from East Devon to Dorset. Recognised as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO, The Jurassic Coast, quite rightly, joins other well-known World Heritage Sites such as the Great Barrier Reef (Australia) and the Grand Canyon (USA). It is easy to see why this coast is so popular when it allows visitors to experience a fascinating walk through history.
We hope you have a great Dorset break!
